Alisa Shablovskaia serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Oslo, specializing in the conceptual history of shura (consultation) within the Turco-Persian world. Her research examines the interplay between Iranian and Ottoman conceptual frameworks through Sufi networks, premodern literary genres, and entangled modernities. Previously, she taught at Sciences Po Le Havre (2021-2023) and the Paris Institute of Political Studies (2019-2020), while conducting doctoral research at the Paris Center of Iranian Studies (2016-2021).
Her research interests span the history of emotions in Iran (19th-21st century), conceptualizations of democracy in Iranian literary traditions including Qajar mirrors for princes and contemporary diaspora literature, and the connected history of Russian, Turkish and Iranian concepts. She integrates classical, decolonial, and gender perspectives into her analysis of political discourse and emotional landscapes.
Shablovskaia's 12 publications (2019-2025) reveal consistent focus on Russo-Iranian relations, Qajar intellectual history, and transnational revolutionary movements. Her work demonstrates interdisciplinary methodology bridging conceptual history, diplomatic archives, and literary analysis, with particular attention to Soviet propaganda in Iran and Ottoman-Persian constitutional comparisons.
