Alisa Knizel is an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Barnard College. She previously served as an Assistant Professor at the University of Chicago (Department of Statistics) and was an NSF Postdoctoral Fellow at Columbia University’s Department of Mathematics. She earned her PhD in Mathematics from MIT in 2017, under the advisement of Alexei Borodin.
Her research focuses on the interplay between probabilistic and algebraic properties of lattice models in statistical mechanics. Key areas include random matrix theory, interacting particle systems, and their applications to random growth models, traffic models, and combinatorics. Her work bridges theoretical frameworks with practical applications in mathematical physics and stochastic systems.
Alisa’s academic journey includes prestigious fellowships and postdoctoral appointments, reflecting her contributions to advancing probabilistic and algebraic methodologies in statistical mechanics. Though no specific articles are listed here, her research trends emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to complex systems modeling.
