Alin Mihu-Pintilie is a Scientific Researcher III at the Department of Exact Sciences and Natural Sciences within the ARHEOINVEST Center at Alexandru Ioan Cuza University. He holds a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences (2015) and specializes in advanced spatial analysis using GIS, remote sensing, and geophysics for bathymetric/terrestrial mapping, geoarchaeology, and assessing natural hazards impacting cultural heritage sites. He is a certified diver (NAUI Worldwide, since 2008) and has participated in expeditions across Eurasia and the North Atlantic.
Research Interests: Focuses on human-environment relationships in prehistoric contexts, natural hazard assessment (floods, landslides) in archaeological areas, and interdisciplinary GIS applications. His work integrates geoarchaeological analysis with modern technologies to study sites like the Danube Delta, Volga Delta, Black Sea, and North Atlantic regions.
Grants & Projects: Involved in projects examining the relationship between composition-microstructure-functional properties in ferroelectric perovskites, synthesis of anti-amyloid peptides, and algebraic differential operators. Leads studies on the Danube Delta’s halieutic circuit and Scythia Minor’s environmental history.
Labs/Teams: Part of the ARHEOINVEST Center, collaborating on multidisciplinary initiatives combining geography, archaeology, and environmental science to preserve cultural heritage under climate change and anthropogenic pressures.
