Alice Taylor is Professor of Medieval History at King's College London, where she also serves as Vice-Dean for Research in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. Her research focuses on European politics in the central Middle Ages, medieval states and governments, law and legal norms, and British/Irish history over the long term.
She specializes in reconstructing the earliest Scottish legal texts and examining state formation through legal frameworks. Her current book projects include a history of twelfth-century European politics and a legal history of late medieval Scotland. Dr. Taylor co-leads 'The Community of the Realm in Scotland' research project and serves on editorial boards of major historical journals.
She has received prestigious awards including the Philip Leverhulme Prize and Royal Historical Society's Whitfield Prize for her book 'The Shape of the State in Medieval Scotland'.
