Alice Roberts serves as a Lecturer in Human Anatomy at the University of Sunderland's School of Medicine, where she teaches students in the MBChB Medicine program. Her academic journey began with Clinical Sciences at the University of Bradford, followed by a Masters in Human Anatomy at the University of Edinburgh.
Her research focuses on the enthesis (the bone-tendon interface), with particular emphasis on avulsion injuries sustained through sports activities and their subsequent repair mechanisms. She maintains a strong interest in major trauma and rehabilitation medicine, demonstrating a commitment to bridging anatomical knowledge with clinical applications. Roberts has been an active member of the paediatric Trauma Audit and Research Network (TARNlet) since 2017, contributing to trauma research and quality improvement initiatives.
Roberts employs diverse teaching methodologies, having previously instructed undergraduate students at the University of Edinburgh using cadaveric prosections, and currently utilizing advanced technology resources at the University of Sunderland including Anatomage virtual dissection tables and Complete Anatomy software. She actively explores innovative approaches to anatomy education with the goal of enhancing student learning outcomes and engagement in this fundamental medical discipline.
Her professional activities include participation in university initiatives such as the School of Medicine's support for refugees fleeing Ukraine and involvement with charity events that have personal significance, as noted in university news from May 2023 regarding a charity that helped save a lecturer's life.
