Alice Middelkoop-Stijsiger

Alice Middelkoop-Stijsiger is a Researcher and PhD candidate at Wageningen University & Research, affiliated with the Education and Learning Sciences department. She combines this role with a Teacher Educator position at Hogeschool Driestar, where she trains second career vocational teachers.

Her research investigates the professional identity development of second career teachers in Dutch Vocational Education and Training (MBO), focusing on factors influencing retention and transition into teaching through Alternative Certification Programs. The project is funded by the NWO Teacher Doctoral Scholarship under supervisors Piety Runhaar and Harm Biemans.

She joined WUR's Education and Learning Sciences group in September 2024 after a decade of experience in vocational teacher training. Personal interests include nature, sports, reading, and creative activities.
