Alice Haynes is a Research Fellow at the Human-Computer Interaction Lab within the Department of Computer Science at Saarland University. Her research focuses on textile-based interfaces, shape-changing garments, and emotive haptic devices for social interaction and anxiety relief. She completed her PhD in the Soft Robotics Group at the Bristol Robotics Laboratory, UK, and holds an integrated M.Eng. in Engineering Mathematics from the University of Bristol.
Current projects include Embrogami (shape-changing textiles via machine embroidery) and Flextiles, exploring adaptive garments with responsive properties. Her work bridges haptics, wearable technology, and human-centered design principles.
Based in Saarbrücken, Germany, Alice's office is located at E 1.7 Room 2.01. Her research emphasizes interdisciplinary approaches to integrating technology into everyday fabrics, with a focus on tangible interactions and emotional engagement through tactile experiences.
