Alice Haylett Bryan

Dr Alice Haylett Bryan is a Lecturer in Film History at Queen Mary University of London’s School of History. She holds a BA in Art History from Goldsmiths College London, an MA in Contemporary Cinema Cultures from King’s College London, and a PhD in Film Studies from King’s College London. Her research focuses on the cultural politics of horror and extreme cinema, particularly exploring modern to contemporary horror from American, French, Japanese, and South Korean contexts. She emphasizes de-Westernizing horror studies and co-organized the 2022 De-Westernising Horror conference at KCL. She contributed to Dr Alison Peirse’s videographic essay project Doing Women’s (Global) (Horror) Film History and co-edits the 21st Century Horror series with Edinburgh University Press.
