Alice Fischer is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of New Haven's Tagliatela College of Engineering, where she teaches courses spanning from introductory programming to advanced topics like Object-Oriented Design and Programming Language Structure. She holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science and M.A. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, and a B.A. in Mathematics from the University of Michigan.
Her research focuses on programming language theory, software engineering methodologies, and computer science education. She has co-authored influential textbooks including The Anatomy of Programming Languages and Applied C, an Introduction and More, which has been translated into multiple Chinese editions.
Professor Fischer has contributed to several conference papers examining software engineering practices and educational approaches in computing. Her $2 million endowment established a chair position to support computer science education at the University of New Haven.
