Alice Burmeister

Alice Burmeister is an Associate Professor of Art History at Winthrop University's College of Visual and Performing Arts. She joined Winthrop in 1997 and has received numerous awards, including the Outstanding Junior Professor Award (2000) and multiple research grants. Her research focuses on African, American, Oceanic, Pre-Columbian, and Native-American art.

Her educational background includes a Ph.D. from Indiana University. She has curated exhibitions such as 'Striking the Eye: Arts of West African Women' (2003) and teaches courses like ARTH 175: Introduction to Ancient and Medieval Art and ARTH 351: Arts of Africa.
