Dr. Alice Berry is an Associate Professor in Rehabilitation at the University of the West of England (UWE Bristol), affiliated with the HAS - Allied Health Professions and HAS - Nursing and Midwifery departments. She holds a PhD, MSc, and BSc (Hons). Her research focuses on self-management strategies for musculoskeletal conditions, particularly leveraging behavior change theory to enhance physical activity engagement. Current projects include evaluating interventions for inflammatory arthritis fatigue (FREE-IA) and a digital intervention for low back pain (getUbetter).
Her PhD work centered on developing digital tools to encourage long-term physical activity among osteoarthritis patients. Methodologically, she employs qualitative approaches such as in-depth interviews, think-aloud sessions, and thematic analysis, often co-designed with patient partners.
Dr. Berry leads a fellowship funded by the BNSSG CCG (2020–present), exploring pathways connecting NHS self-management programs to community physical activity resources. This Realist-informed study aims to optimize interventions for sustained engagement.
