معرفی
Ali Sülün is a Professor at Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University's Faculty of Health Sciences, with dual appointments as regular staff at Fethiye Ali Sıtkı Mefharet Koçman Vocational School in the Department of Environmental Protection Technologies. His interdisciplinary work bridges environmental science, science education, and educational neuroscience, reflecting his unique position within both health sciences and vocational environmental programs.
He earned his Bachelor's degree in Biology Teacher Training from Selçuk University's Ahmet Keleşoğlu Education Faculty in 1985. His academic journey spans decades of contributions to Turkish education, particularly in curriculum development and teacher training methodologies.
Professor Sülün's research focuses on three interconnected domains: environmental protection technologies (especially pollution control and biodiversity conservation), science education pedagogy (with emphasis on 21st-century skills and technology integration), and educational neuroscience (specializing in neurophysiological learning processes and teacher cognition). His recent work demonstrates a methodological shift toward quantitative analysis of cognitive processes in educational settings, particularly through scale development for measuring neurophysiological perceptions.
Analysis of his publication trends reveals increasing integration of neuroscience principles into educational research since 2014, with 7 of his 15 most recent articles focusing on neurophysiological aspects of learning. Simultaneously, his environmental research maintains strong regional relevance through studies of Turkish ecosystems like Akgöl lake and coastal habitats.
He has successfully supervised six graduate theses across doctoral and master's levels, mentoring researchers like Funda ÇAPANOĞLU (2022) on neurophysiological learning perceptions and Esin Oktay Ciminli (2013) on mathematics skills in science education. His research funding includes TÜBİTAK projects such as the 2018 Erzincan Science Festival and the 2021 conservation study 'Akgöl: The Last Habitat of Water Minks in the Land of Lights', where he served as project consultant.
Professor Sülün teaches advanced environmental courses including Environmental Biology, Marine Pollution Control, and Dangerous Waste Management, while also instructing foundational courses in Learning Physiology and Research Methods. His current course load for 2023-2026 demonstrates active engagement across both undergraduate environmental programs and graduate education curricula.
