Ali Ercetin is an Associate Professor at the Maritime Faculty of Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University, affiliated with the Department of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Previously, he worked as a Research Assistant at Bingöl University (2013–2022) and Osmaniye Korkut Ata University (2013).
His research focuses on powder metallurgy, magnesium alloys, and micro-machining with an emphasis on image processing for material characterization. His work includes optimizing machining parameters, developing biodegradable composites, and advancing manufacturing techniques for aerospace and biomedical applications.
Recent publications highlight trends in automated grain counting, tool wear analysis, and multi-flow egg sorting systems. He serves as an editor for the Journal of Characterization and Turkish Nature and Science Journal, and has led multiple research projects on magnesium alloy characterization and micro-machinability.
He teaches courses such as Technical Drawing, Mechanics of Materials, and Machine Elements, and has supervised master’s theses on hydrogen production from seawater using magnesium alloys. His administrative roles include heading the Department of Naval Architecture at Bandırma Onyedi Eylül University.
