Ali Charara

Ali Charara is a University Professor at the University of Technology of Compiègne (UTC), affiliated with the Heudiasyc laboratory (UMR CNRS 7253). He currently serves as Project Manager to the President and CEO of CNRS for the alumni network prefiguration (January 2024–present) and co-president of its strategic committee since 2025. Previously held leadership roles include Director of CNRS Computer Sciences (2019–2023), Director of Labex MS2T (2011–2018), and Director of Heudiasyc laboratory (2008–2017).

His research focuses on control theory and system dynamics, with expertise in modeling, observation, and control of complex Systems of Systems (SoS). Teaching areas include Advanced Automatics, Industrial Control, and Nonlinear Robotic Systems, reflecting his specialization in real-time automation and robotic applications. His work bridges theoretical control systems with industrial implementations, particularly in transportation and energy domains.

Prof. Charara directs major national research initiatives including the Labex MS2T excellence laboratory and FR CNRS SHIC research federation. He co-founded the SIVALab joint laboratory with Renault and led UTC's involvement in the i-Trans competitiveness cluster (2013–2017). His advisory roles span the GdR Robotics committee, CEESAR Scientific Council, and ANR's STIC committee, demonstrating significant influence in French research policy.
