Ali Alper DEMİR is a Researcher at Suleyman Demirel University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering since 2016. He is also affiliated with the Optima Research Group. He holds a BSc (2012), MSc (2019), and PhD (2024) in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Suleyman Demirel University. His research focuses on document analysis, image segmentation, machine learning, and deep learning, with a specialization in Ottoman document processing and handwritten text recognition.
His work includes applying GANs and deep learning to text line segmentation and character recognition in historical manuscripts. Notable publications include 'GAN-based text line segmentation' (2024) and 'Object Detection-Based Character Recognition for Ottoman Documents' (2025). He contributed to a national project on Ottoman text indexing (2019–2023). Academic outreach includes presentations at INISTA 2021 and SIU 2020.
He has designed circuits for biomedical signal measurement and developed algorithms for digit segmentation in overlapping contexts. His contributions span theoretical advancements and applied engineering solutions in document analysis and AI-driven historical research.
