Alfred Kirsch is a postdoctoral researcher in Mathematics at CERMICS-École des Ponts (near Paris) and Inria-Matherials, mentored by Éric Cancès. Previously, he completed his PhD in Mathematics at the same institution under Éric Cancès and David Gontier, defending his thesis on November 18, 2024, at École des Ponts.
His research focuses on the mathematical analysis of interacting quantum systems and associated numerical methods, particularly embedding techniques like Density Matrix Embedding Theory (DMET) and Dynamical Mean-Field Theory (DMFT). He has taught Statistical Physics, Quantum Mechanics, and Solid State Physics at École des Ponts and co-organizes the Young Researchers Seminar at CERMICS.
Key research areas include mathematical physics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics, embedding methods, strong correlations, and numerical algorithms. His work emphasizes the theoretical and computational challenges in modeling correlated quantum systems.
