Alfonso Fuggetta

Alfonso Fuggetta serves as Professor in the Department of Electronics and Information at Politecnico di Milano and holds dual leadership roles as CEO and Scientific Director of CEFRIEL, an innovation center established by Politecnico di Milano and industry partners for ICT technology transfer.

He earned his degree from Politecnico di Milano in 1982, following early industry experience at a software consulting firm (1980-1988). His academic trajectory includes appointment as tenured Associate Professor (1992), promotion to Full Professor (2000), and progressive leadership at CEFRIEL culminating in CEO appointment (2005).

His research concentrates on Software Engineering, System Engineering, and Information and Communication Technology, evidenced by his recognition as a top-10 global scholar in software engineering (9th worldwide, 2nd in Europe in 1997; 9th worldwide, 1st in Europe in 1998) by the Journal of Systems and Software.

He maintains significant influence through membership in the Italian Government Committee on Open Source Software and Confindustria's Research Committee, alongside prestigious academic service including ICSE 97 Programme Co-Chairmanship and editorial board membership for ACM TOSEM.
