Dr. Alexis Y. Dollion is an on-contract lecturer at Université de Rennes, France, teaching undergraduate courses in neurosciences and animal behaviors within the Department of Biology, Ecology & Ethology. He is affiliated with the ETHOS research laboratory, specifically the DEEP team (Development & plasticity: parental effects), where his research focuses on potential markers of positive emotions in Japanese quail (Coturnix japonica).
Dr. Dollion's educational background includes a PhD focused on the evolution of rapid color change in chameleons and its role in sexual selection, using panther chameleons as a biological model. After his PhD, he worked as an engineer in experimental zoology at Université de Lille, followed by a Fyssen postdoctoral fellowship at Arizona State University where he investigated rapid color change in wild turkeys (Meleagris gallopavo). His research trajectory shows a consistent focus on color change across different taxa, beginning with chameleons during his PhD, moving to turkeys during his postdoc, and currently working with Japanese quail.
His research generally focuses on animal coloration and its role in communication, with particular interest in rapid color change.
