Alexis Meier

Alexis Meier is a Lecturer in Architecture and Urban Planning at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Strasbourg (ENSAS), part of the University of Strasbourg. He is a tenured researcher at the AMUP Laboratory (UR7304) under its first research axis on architectural design and sustainable urban development. He also holds an affiliation with the Gerphau Laboratory (EA 7486) in Paris. His roles include teaching architectural theory, urban planning projects, and supervising research dissertations and doctoral co-supervision. He directed the Master’s program 'Architecture, Structures and Urban Projects' and managed conference programs from 2009 to 2015.

His research focuses on architectural design methodologies, sustainable urban systems, computational design, and the historical and theoretical foundations of architecture. Notable publications include a monograph on Peter Eisenman (2019) and contributions to journals like Encyclopædia Universalis and ArchiStorm Review. He has been awarded grants from the Azrieli Architectural Archive and the French Ministry of Culture for publishing initiatives.

Professionally, Meier has served as a visiting professor at the University of Montreal’s Faculté d’Aménagement, leading studio workshops in 2010. His work bridges education, research, and practice, emphasizing interdisciplinary approaches to architectural challenges.
