Alexey Nikitin is an Ikerbasque Research Professor at the Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC), specializing in nanophotonics of 2D materials. His research focuses on polaritonic phenomena in van der Waals crystals, hyperbolic optics, and anisotropic photonics. He has pioneered studies on canalized polaritons, twist-tunable polaritonic crystals, and phonon-polariton damping mechanisms. His work bridges fundamental physics with applications in nanooptics, THz photonics, and molecular sensing.
