Alexei Pchejetski is a Full Professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Montreal. He leads research on lysosomal biology, enzyme dysfunction in metabolic diseases, and novel therapeutic approaches for neurodegenerative disorders such as mucopolysaccharidosis IIIC (Sanfilippo syndrome). His work spans lysosomal storage diseases, immune signaling pathways, and vascular biology, with a focus on enzyme replacement therapies and neuroprotective strategies.
Research affiliations include the Centre de recherche Azrieli du CHU Sainte-Justine. Key projects involve developing therapies targeting microglia cells, misfolded proteins, and exosome-based enzyme delivery systems. His grants include funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), Sanfilippo Children's Foundation, and GlycoNet, among others.
- Supervised 8 graduate students since 1997, including doctoral research on lysosomal sialidases and master's studies on enzyme biogenesis.
- Active in proteomics technology development for phosphoprotein analysis and drug target identification.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams in neurology, immunology, and vascular biology through multi-million dollar research networks.
