Alexei Kornyshev is a Professor of Chemical Physics at the Department of Chemistry within the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College London. He has held significant research and academic positions across Europe, including at the Frumkin Institute of Physical Chemistry and Electrochemistry in Moscow, Jülich Research Center in Germany, and Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf. His long-standing scientific collaboration with the University of Tartu was recognized in 2023 with an honorary doctorate in natural sciences.
His research interests include electron and proton transfer, hydration, electrical double layers, polymer and solid electrolytes, fuel cells (PEFC/DMFC, SOFC), supercapacitors, DNA biophysics, ionic liquids, molecular machines, and electrochemical metamaterials.
