He served as Rector (1956–1957) and Vice-Rector (1963–1966), and led the Department of Electric Measurements from 1952 until his retirement in 1983. A visionary in computer science, he founded Romania’s first computer school, developed early digital computer technologies like the CETA transistorized computer, and created the country’s first ferrite memory.
- Education: Graduated with honors from Politehnica University of Timisoara in 1938 (Dr. Eng. degree obtained later).
- Research Focus: Pioneered computer hardware and software in Romania, including ferrite memory development, digital circuit design, and integrated circuits. Transitioned from electrical engineering to computers in 1960, emphasizing hands-on practical training.
- Legacy: Established the Computers study program (1966) and curriculum reforms, enabling Romania’s first computer engineering education. His team built cost-effective, high-reliability systems like the Felix C-256 and battery testers.
Professor Rogojan’s contributions extended beyond academia: he repaired war-damaged infrastructure, designed telecommunication systems, and collaborated with industry. His mentorship shaped generations of engineers, and he remains a symbol of dedication to innovation and education.
