Dr. Alexandros Vasilopoulos is a Senior Research Officer at the School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science (SMSAS) at the University of Essex. He holds a PhD in Physics from Coventry University (2024). His research focuses on computational statistical mechanics, particularly phase transitions in lattice models such as the Blume-Capel, Ising, and Baxter-Wu systems. He specializes in advanced simulation techniques including Monte Carlo methods and GPU-accelerated algorithms. Dr. Vasilopoulos has published extensively on critical phenomena, universality classes, and finite-size scaling in two-dimensional spin systems. His work addresses both equilibrium and nonequilibrium dynamics under various external conditions, such as nonantisymmetric magnetic fields and quenched disorder. He collaborates with international teams to conduct massive-scale simulations and analyze energy/magnetization distributions at critical points.
Recent projects include studying tricriticality in the triangular Blume-Capel ferromagnet and exploring exotic dynamics in mesoscopic spin systems. His contributions advance understanding of universality in diluted models and computational efficiency in high-performance physics simulations.
