Alexandro Garcia Laguia is a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Languages and Literature, part of the Joint Faculties of Humanities and Theology at Lund University. His work focuses on linguistic structures and grammatical development, particularly in Austronesian languages like Northern Alta spoken in the Philippines.

Research interests include:
- Language structure and categorization of meaning
- Grammar development in Austronesian languages
- Spatial cognition and linguistic roots
In 2022, he published a peer-reviewed article analyzing spatial roots in Northern Alta, contributing to understanding how languages encode spatial concepts. He is currently involved in two projects: The Forager's Index (2022-2025) studying demonstrative systems in Southeast Asian hunter-gatherer languages, and LANG-KEY (2016-2023), an interdisciplinary exploration of sensory perception through language.
He actively contributes to the academic community as a member of the Lund Language Diversity Forum, collaborating with scholars like Burenhult and Majid on cross-linguistic diversity studies.
