Dr. Alexandre Loktionov is a Visiting Senior Research Fellow in the Department of Political Economy at King's College London, concurrently serving as Professor of Egyptology at HSE University, Moscow. He is based at Christ’s College, Cambridge, and holds academic affiliations across institutions. His research focuses on ancient Egyptian legal systems, long-term constitutional evolution in early states, and intellectual exchanges between Egypt and Mesopotamia.
Education: PhD, MPhil, and BA degrees from the University of Cambridge. Professional experience includes roles at the John W. Kluge Center (Library of Congress, Washington, DC).
Research interests integrate Egyptology with political science and legal history, exploring how institutional frameworks evolved in ancient societies. He leads the AHRC-funded 'Development of Early Constitutional Thought' project, collaborating with Professor Andrew Blick. Recent publications include Compulsion and Control in Ancient Egypt (2023), examining mechanisms of governance and social control in pharaonic Egypt.
As project lead, Loktionov coordinates interdisciplinary research initiatives between Cambridge and King's College London, advancing understanding of early constitutional ideas.
