Alexandre Lavoie serves as a Course Instructor in Percussion at McGill University's Schulich School of Music, Department of Music Performance. He is also the principal percussionist of the Orchestre Métropolitain under Yannick Nézet-Séguin since 2019 and maintains teaching positions at Collège Notre-Dame in Montreal.
Originally from Abitibi, Quebec, Lavoie earned his master's degree in percussion in 2018, receiving the Prize with distinction from the Quebec City Conservatory of Music where he studied under Anne-Julie Caron. He completed his orchestral performance training at the Montreal Conservatory in 2019 under Hugues Tremblay.
Lavoie maintains an active international performance career, having joined the YOA Orchestra of the Americas for their European tour 'Nordic-Baltic' in summer 2016 and participated in the Roots and Rhizomes program at the Banff Centre for Arts and Creativity in 2017, where he performed and attended seminars with renowned percussionists Steven Schick and Aiyun Huang.

- First prize as a soloist in the Canadian Music Competition

Beyond classical performance, Lavoie has experience as a vibraphonist and drummer for pop/jazz recording projects, demonstrating versatility across musical genres while maintaining his focus on percussion education and performance.
