Alexandra Sfyroera is a classical archaeologist affiliated with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She holds a PhD in Classical Archaeology (2011) and has served as Laboratory Teaching Staff at the Museum of Archaeology and History of Art since 2014. Her roles include curating educational collections, designing archaeological programs, and supervising student practical exercises. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in Naxos, Zakros, Kea, and Epidaurus, focusing on ancient sanctuaries, aqueducts, and inscriptions.
Research interests center on Cycladic archaeology, ancient Greek history, and the intersection of material culture with sociopolitical dynamics. Key projects include the documentation of Epidaurus inscriptions, the restoration of Naxos’ ancient aqueduct, and excavations at sites like Yria and Melanes. She actively participates in the University’s Epidaurus excavation team, uncovering significant Archaic structures and open-air sanctuaries.
Her publications emphasize archaeological methodology, museum education, and the historical narratives of Cycladic islands. She has contributed to academic tributes and interdisciplinary projects like the “Minoan Roads” research program. Current work involves publishing findings from Epidaurus and Naxos’ archaeological deposits.
