Dr. Alexandra Sapoznik is a Reader in Late Medieval History at King's College London. She investigates agricultural productivity, beekeeping economies, and cross-cultural exchange networks spanning Europe and North Africa.
Key projects include:
- 'ECOMEDS: Economic and cultural connections within Mediterranean ecosystems' (UKRI Horizon Europe, 2024-2028)
- Leverhulme Research Project 'Bees in the medieval world' (2018-2021)
Her work explores how religious culture and climate change shaped commodity trades like wax and honey across medieval Europe. Recent publications analyze candle economies, honey trade routes, and ecological impacts of medieval apiculture.
