Alexandra Peralta Sanchez

Alexandra Peralta Sanchez is an Associate Professor in Agricultural and Food Economics at the University of Adelaide, affiliated with the School of Economics and Public Policy and The Centre for Global Food and Resources (CGFAR). She focuses on evaluating agricultural innovations' impacts on income, welfare, and gender dynamics in households. Her research spans international development projects in Cambodia, Laos, Timor-Leste, Indonesia, and Sub-Saharan Africa, emphasizing food security and value chain resilience.

Her work employs econometrics, lab-in-field experiments, and qualitative methods, collaborating with agricultural scientists, anthropologists, and geographers. Key projects include assessing mobile finance impacts in Southeast Asia and seed systems in Timor-Leste. She has secured over $2.5M in grants, primarily from ACIAR, and teaches courses on global food policy and agricultural economics. A Fulbright alumna, she previously worked at Michigan State University and consulted for the IDB and CIAT.
