معرفی
Dr. Alexandra Males is a Lecturer in Analytical Chemistry at Sheffield Hallam University since 2023. She is the course leader for the BSc Biochemistry degree and teaches modules in analytical chemistry, protein enzymology, and biochemistry. Her research focuses on glycobiology, particularly using mass spectrometry imaging to study carbohydrate roles in medical diseases. She holds a PhD from the University of York (2019), supervised by Prof. Gideon Davies, and previously served as an associate lecturer in Chemistry at York.
Education:
- BSc Biochemistry, University of Sheffield
- PhD in Structural Biology, University of York (2019)
Research Interests: Glycobiology, carbohydrate enzyme characterization, mass spectrometry imaging, and the role of carbohydrates in kidney disease and inflammation. Current projects include C-mannosylation effects on kidney disease using molecular biology and LC-MS, and LPMO enzyme mechanisms in cellulose degradation.
Awards:
- Kathleen Mary Stott Award (2019) for scientific excellence in enzymology research
Teaching: Module leader for Principles of Chemical Analysis, Molecular & Cellular Biochemistry, and Innovations in Analytical Science. Teaches across BSc Chemistry, Biochemistry, BMS, and MSc Analytical Chemistry programs.
