Dr. Alexandra Blenkinsop is a Researcher in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London’s Faculty of Natural Sciences, specializing in Bayesian methods and phylogenetics with applications in population health. She develops statistical methodologies to analyze population-level transmission dynamics and estimate epidemiological parameters using genomic pathogen data.
- Collaborates with the HIV Transmission Elimination Amsterdam (H-TEAM) Consortium
- Participates in the Phylogenetics And Networks for Generalised Epidemics in Africa (PANGEA) HIV consortium
- Works with the Botswana-Harvard Health Partnership and CDC
Her research bridges statistical theory with public health policy, focusing on longitudinal clinical and demographic data analysis. She contributes to education by supervising MSc research projects in Statistics, teaching for the Machine Learning and Data Science MSc program, and organizing short courses in statistics and machine learning at the African Institute of Mathematical Sciences in Rwanda and South Africa. She actively promotes diversity through outreach initiatives in her department.
