Alexander Vassilev

Dr. Alexander Vassilev serves as Associate Professor of Economics and Head of the Master's Program in Economics at the University of Lincoln, UK, while also working as an Associate Researcher at the Faculty of Economics of Sofia University. At Sofia University, he conducts research on the regional and economic impact of European projects in Bulgaria, funded by the Research Fund of Sofia University.

Dr. Vassilev received his PhD from the University of Glasgow (Scotland) and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at CERGE-EI in Prague, Czech Republic. His academic training has established him as an experienced macroeconomist with extensive publication record.

His research expertise spans dynamic macroeconomics, dynamic optimization, system dynamics, dynamic stochastic general equilibrium (DSGE) models, real business cycle (RBC) and New Keynesian (NK) models, economic growth theories, fiscal policy analysis, labor market dynamics, and computational methods in economics. His methodological approach combines theoretical modeling with empirical analysis of complex economic systems.

Dr. Vassilev's scholarly contributions have earned him significant recognition within the economics community.

His current research at Sofia University examines how European Union funding mechanisms affect regional economic development in Bulgaria, providing valuable policy insights for national and EU-level decision makers.
