Prof. Dr. Alexander Schunka is a Professor at the Friedrich Meinecke Institute, Department of History and Cultural Studies, Freie Universität Berlin. He specializes in Early Modern European History with a focus on religious plurality, migration, and cultural interactions.
- Education: Studium der Neueren Geschichte, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (1999 Magister Artium, 2004 Promotion, 2015 Habilitation).
Research Interests include:
- Historische Migrations- und Mobilitätsforschung (Migration in 17th–18th century Europe).
- Religionsgeschichte der Frühen Neuzeit (Protestantism, Pietism, interconfessional relations).
- Geschichte kultureller Transfers (Anglo-American, Central Europe, Ottoman Empire interactions).
- Ressourcengeschichte (water scarcity, resource management).
Scientific Activities encompass monographs on Huguenots, Protestant migrations to Britain, and edited works on religious plurality and pietism. His projects include Translating Toleration and Plurale Protestantismen.
