معرفی
Alexander Premet is an Emeritus Professor of Pure Mathematics at the University of Manchester. He earned his PhD from the Institute of Mathematics of the Byelorussian Academy of Sciences (1984) and has held positions at UC Riverside, University of Hamburg, and ETH Zürich. His career includes visiting professorships in Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Korea, Russia, and Switzerland.
Premet's research focuses on Lie theory and representation theory, notably completing the classification of finite-dimensional simple Lie algebras over algebraically closed fields of characteristic p>3 with Helmut Strade (2007). He proved the Kac-Weisfeiler conjecture (1995) and constructed counterexamples to the Gelfand-Kirillov conjecture (2010). Current work explores primitive ideals of enveloping algebras, invariant theory of linear algebraic groups, and maximal subalgebras of exceptional Lie algebras.
He has published over 50 research articles and serves as managing editor for Transformation Groups. Previous editorial roles include Journal of Algebra and London Mathematical Society journals. Premet has supervised 9 PhD students to completion and welcomes new students in Lie theory, representation theory, modular Lie algebras, and invariant theory.
