Alexander Pawlis serves as Head of the Semiconductor Epitaxy and Quantum Optics Group (PGI-9) and holds scientific management of the Nanocluster (PGI-10) at Forschungszentrum Jülich's Peter Grünberg Institute. His work bridges semiconductor physics and quantum information technology within the JARA-Institute for Energy-Efficient Information Technology.
His research focuses on advanced semiconductor engineering for quantum applications, with particular emphasis on molecular beam epitaxy of III/V and II/VI semiconductor heterostructures. His group specializes in nanoscale structuring and quantum optical characterization of these materials, developing components specifically for optical quantum communication systems. This work positions him at the intersection of condensed matter physics and quantum information science, contributing to Germany's strategic initiatives in quantum technologies.
Pawlis leads critical infrastructure within the Nanocluster (PGI-10), directing research efforts toward energy-efficient quantum information processing. His laboratory maintains specialized equipment for semiconductor epitaxy and quantum optical measurements, supporting both fundamental research and applied development of quantum photonic devices.
