Alexander P.J. van Deursen

Dr. Alexander P.J. van Deursen is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e), specializing in Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC). He leads research on advanced modeling and measurement techniques for EMC in systems ranging from integrated circuits to industrial power plants.

• PhD in Physics from Radboud University Nijmegen
• Postdoctoral work at Max Planck Institute for Solid State Research
• Established first Dutch university-level EMC course (1986)

His research spans both small-scale and large-scale electromagnetic phenomena, including lightning protection, disturbance propagation, statistical electromagnetics, and EMC simulation. Recent work focuses on transient overvoltage measurement, magnetic field distribution, and lightning-related atmospheric effects.

Dr. van Deursen has over 275 research outputs and supervised 13 academic works. He actively participates in international conferences (URSI, EMC Europe) and chairs the annual PAO EMC course.
