Alexander Ney is a Researcher affiliated with the Department of Physical Geography and Landscape Ecology at Leibniz University Hannover, within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. He is also part of the Physical Geography Group. His research focuses on climate change impacts on forestry and agriculture, drought analysis, and ecohydrological modeling.
Education:
- M.Sc. in Landscape Sciences (2016–2019), Leibniz University Hannover. Thesis: "Impact of climate change on the agro-hydrology of the Ilmenau River catchment: simulations with SWAT+"
- B.Sc. in Geography (2015–2018), Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. Thesis: "Investigation into the pH of former wine-growing sites in the Upper Rheingau and their effects on heavy metal release"
Professional Experience:
- Since Nov 2021: Research Associate at the Northwest German Forest Research Institute (Göttingen) in the project “Climate-Adaptive Federal Forest”
- Oct 2020–Mar 2021: Research Assistant (Tutor) in hydrology and soil science at Leibniz University Hannover
- Feb–Mar 2020: Intern at the Lower Saxony State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology (soil science)
- Nov 2019–Jan 2020: Research Assistant at the Lower Saxony State Office for Monument Preservation
Research Interests: Alexander Ney investigates climate change effects on ecosystems, particularly drought patterns and their impacts on forests, using ecohydrological models. His work integrates GIS and computational tools to analyze land-use changes and agricultural sustainability.
