Alexander Mouton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Visual Arts at Seattle University’s College of Arts & Sciences. His practice spans photography, digital media, and the creation of limited-edition photo books and zines through Unseen Press, collected by institutions like MoMA and the Getty Research Institute. He recently conducted an ethnographic study of former East German socialist housing settlements during a 2023 sabbatical.
- Education: MFA in photography from Indiana University
Research Focus: Combines visual art with historical and sociopolitical analysis, particularly through time-based media and archival exploration. His work engages with urban studies, digital imaging, and the legacy of socialist architecture.
Exhibitions & Collaborations: Featured at SFcamerawork, Istanbul Contemporary Art Museum, Walker Art Center, and Rhizome.org’s ArtBase. His 2024 research involved archival work at Germany’s National Archives and the Leibniz Institute.
