Alexander More

Alexander More is an Associate Professor of Public Health, Environmental Health, and Climate and Health at Long Island University, where he also serves as Director of the Honors College. He holds a Ph.D. from Harvard University. His research focuses on interdisciplinary approaches to climate-health interactions, historical climatology, and environmental health.

Dr. More's research examines the intersection of climate, environment, and public health through historical and contemporary lenses. Primary interests include:

• Climate impacts on disease patterns and pandemics
• Historical pollution reconstruction using ice core data
• Long-term environmental change and societal impacts
• Interdisciplinary methodologies combining scientific and historical evidence

His publications demonstrate consistent focus on climate-health interactions through historical case studies (Black Death, Spanish Flu), paleoclimatology techniques (ice core analysis), and examination of societal responses to environmental changes. Recent work emphasizes pre-industrial climate baselines and their relevance for contemporary public health.

As Director of the Honors College, Dr. More oversees specialized programming for high-achieving students across LIU's academic disciplines.
