Alexander Martin (she/her) is an Assistant Professor and Gallery Director at Eureka University. Their interdisciplinary practice bridges oral/embodied traditions of Black, Trans, and Queer Appalachian communities with academic/artistic spaces through mixed media, performance, and education, aiming to expand canonical representations of marginalized cultures.
- Co-founder of Project 1612 (artist-run space)
- Founding member of Peoria Guild of Black Artists
- Active in community advocacy for health equity and accessibility
Research focuses on queer intimacy, sacred symbolism, and creating alternative languages/scripts to preserve hidden histories. Teaching includes painting, printmaking, and mixed media, with mentorship through independent studies and gallery curation.
