Alexander Lohse is a Lecturer and Researcher at the University of Hamburg's Department of Mathematics, part of the Faculty of Mathematics, Computer Science, and Natural Sciences. Since 2020, he holds a permanent position, and he completed his habilitation in 2023 on the classification and stability of low-dimensional heteroclinic structures. His research focuses on dynamical systems, particularly heteroclinic networks, stability analysis, and ordinary differential equations. He is an editor for the Journal of Nonlinear Science, a member of the MIN Faculty Council, and co-initiator of the Lowlands Dynamical Systems Seminar with VU Amsterdam. He also participates in the Scientific Committee of the Hanseatic Dynamical Systems Days.
Education includes a Diplom (2010) and PhD (2014) from the University of Hamburg, with postdoctoral roles at the University of Bremen and the University of Porto. His teaching spans courses on dynamical systems, mathematical modeling, and didactics, including contributions to the oHMint online mathematics platform for STEM students. Key projects include the DLAG digital learning workshop (2024–2025) and presentations at international conferences such as the Modelling Weeks and dynamical systems seminars.
