Dr. Alexander Lee Davis is a Senior Lecturer in the School of English at the University of St Andrews. He specializes in late medieval and early modern literature, with expertise in English Renaissance culture, Shakespeare studies, and medievalism. His research focuses on chivalric traditions, literary inheritance, and historical fiction.

His major publications include Chivalry and Romance in the English Renaissance (2003), Renaissance Historical Fiction (2011), and Imagining Inheritance from Chaucer to Shakespeare (2020). He co-edited the Erasmus in English, 1523-1584 (2023). His research explores intersections between medieval and Renaissance literary traditions, particularly in themes of identity, cultural memory, and moral philosophy.
Current projects include investigations into early modern historiography and the legacy of classical and medieval texts in Renaissance literature.
