Alexander Klös

Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alexander Klös is a Professor at the Technical University of Central Hesse (THM) in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology, where he has been faculty since 2002. He currently serves as Dean of the department (since October 2023) and previously held positions as Vice Dean (2006-2009) and Spokesperson of the Competence Center Nanotechnology and Photonics (2020-2023). He represents THM in the EU SiNANO Institute and serves on the Presidential Committee for Research.

Research Focus: His expertise spans nanoelectronics, solid-state devices, semiconductor modeling, digital signal processing, and systems theory. He leads four laboratories:

• Nanoelectronics/Device Modeling Working Group
• Laboratory for Organic Electronics
• Digital Signal Processing Laboratory
• Digital Technology Laboratory

His work emphasizes analytical modeling of semiconductor devices at nano-scale dimensions.

Publications: His research output focuses on semiconductor device physics, particularly analytical modeling of nano-scale transistors like Schottky barrier MOSFETs. Recent work demonstrates specialization in 2D carrier tunneling analysis and compact modeling for next-generation semiconductor devices.

Academic Leadership: Serves as Director of Doctoral Theses at Universitat Rovira i Virgili (Spain) and oversees research projects in nanoelectronics. His industry background includes R&D leadership at Braun GmbH (1997-2002) developing IR sensor technology and ASIC designs.
