Dr. Alexander Kaiser is a researcher at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, affiliated with the Faculty of Biology and its Department of Biology II, Division of Neurobiology. As the GSN Teaching Coordinator and associate member of the MCN, he plays a key role in organizing pre- and postgraduate neuroscience teaching, implementing new modules, and coordinating student support initiatives.
- Research Focus: Physiology and anatomy of the descending auditory system, binaural auditory evoked potentials, stress-related neuropeptides in auditory processing, cochlear and vestibular physiology in mutant rodents, and dentate gyrus neurogenesis
- Technical Expertise: Comparative auditory neurobiology, molecular neurobiology, and developmental neurobiology
Publication Trends: Over 30 years, his work spans auditory system physiology in birds and rodents (1985-2011), with recent emphasis on photoreceptor arrangements in lemurs (2019). Key methodologies include electrophysiology, neuroanatomical mapping, and genetic/chemical developmental models.
Lab Affiliations: Works within the neurobiology group led by Prof. Benedikt Grothe, focusing on auditory processing, vestibular function, and sensory development across species.
