Professor Alexander J.A.M. van Deursen holds dual Full Professorships at the University of Twente's Digital Society Institute and Communication Science Department. His work focuses on digital inequality, exploring how technology impacts societal inclusion. He advises global organizations like the Dutch government and UNESCO, and co-leads the DISTO project measuring digital exclusion. As Centre for Digital Inclusion director, he develops policies to bridge digital divides.
His research spans digital skills frameworks, AI/IoT inequality, and labor-related digital competencies, contributing to UN SDGs.
