Prof. Dr. Alexander Honold serves as Professor of Modern German Literature (Honold Professorship) at the University of Basel's Faculty of Humanities. He also directs the Forum Basiliense, an interdisciplinary research center promoting collaboration between humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences.
His academic focus encompasses German-language literature from the Early Modern period (beginning around 1500) through the present day, with particular emphasis on literature from the 18th to 21st centuries. The Department of Modern German Literature where he works examines more than five centuries of German literary tradition within its historical and aesthetic contexts.
