Alexander Golberg

Professor Alexander Golberg holds dual appointments at Tel Aviv University in the School of Mechanical Engineering and School of Environment and Earth Sciences, with his office located in the Porter School of Environmental Studies (room 314).

His academic journey includes completing a PhD in Bioengineering at Hebrew University in 2011, followed by research fellowships at UC Berkeley (2011) and Harvard University (2012-2014).

Prof. Golberg's research program focuses on innovative bioengineering solutions with practical industrial applications:

• Electroporation technology development using high-voltage pulsed electric fields for cell membrane penetration across food processing, waste management, and medical sectors
• Hydrothermal liquefaction and carbonization processes for converting organic waste into valuable materials and energy sources
• Halophytic fermentation of salt-resistant plants and algae for food components with specialized hospital environment applications

His methodological approach integrates fundamental laboratory experimentation, pilot-scale testing, and advanced numerical process modeling. This interdisciplinary work bridges mechanical engineering principles with environmental sustainability challenges and biomedical innovation.
