Alexander Berkovich is a Professor of Mathematics at the University of Florida's Department of Mathematics within the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. He maintains regular office hours on Mondays and Wednesdays in Little Hall 478 and is actively teaching multiple courses for the Fall 2025 semester including MAS 4301 (Abstract Algebra), MHF 3202, and other mathematics courses.
Professor Berkovich's research focuses on additive number theory with specialization in partitions, combinatorics, and basic q-hypergeometric series. His work extends into mathematical physics, particularly quantum exactly integrable models, conformal field theory, and special functions. His teaching portfolio demonstrates expertise across abstract algebra, differential equations, and advanced topics in q-series and quadratic forms as evidenced by his specialized graduate course MAT 6932.
- University of Florida Term Professorship (2017-2020)
Professor Berkovich has maintained consistent teaching responsibilities across multiple semesters, instructing both undergraduate and graduate level mathematics courses. His office is located in Little Hall 478 with contact number (352) 294-2291. He has established a research trajectory centered on partition theory and its connections to mathematical physics, as reflected in his course offerings and research interests.
