Professor Alexander Baranenko is a faculty member at ITMO University, serving as Advisor to the Rector's Office. He has held significant administrative roles, including Principal of the St. Petersburg State Academy of Refrigeration and Food Technologies (1998–present) and Head of the Refrigeration and Low Potential Energy Department (since 1997). His academic journey began with a PhD in 1980 and a Doctoral Dissertation in 1991, earning the title of Associate Professor (1985) and Professor (1992).
Research interests focus on absorption machines, thermotransformers, and lithium bromide refrigerating systems, with emphasis on enhancing efficiency through heat and mass transfer processes and corrosion inhibitors. He has authored over 80 publications and 12 patents, contributing to industrial applications in absorption refrigeration.
